Hello Reflection Chairs,

Thank you for supporting your school’s PTA and the National Reflections Art Program!  If you haven’t already, please go online and register your Reflections program at

In its more than 40-year history, the Reflections arts program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in  American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to submit works of art in six areas of the arts:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Musical Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts

All Virginia PTA Reflections forms and resources can be downloaded and many are able to be edited, please visit the Virginia PTA webapge at:
These include registration forms, rules, entry forms, flyers, judges’ rubrics, and more! National PTA resources are available too: a flyer, category images, graphics & logos, and resources in Spanish.

Please remember that in order for your students to participate in VAPTA programs, your PTA or PTSA has to be in good standing. This includes, bylaws up to date, dues paid by November 1, and as per National for Reflections, updated insurance information.

Every art category that you have an entry for, needs to have a 1st place winner.  Please submit all 1st place winners (only) for each category using our online VBPTA submission process.

We are available for any additional help that you may need!  Here is the link to the E-Learning digital library which contains a video about Reflections on the National PTA website:

The rules are pretty straight forward under each art category.  We edited the Student Entry Form that’s available on the website, with our PTA’s information and sent it to all of our students.  The student form is 3 pages long, it includes how to enter, official rules and the entry form.  One thing I did read was all 1st place winners that go to the National level of the Reflections art contest, who submitted digital file entries, will most likely not get returned to the students.  Please make sure you remind your students who submit digital files, to keep a copy of their Reflections submission(s).

Thank you for your support to our students and schools!  Please bring all artwork in a portfolio, don’t forget to label it with your school’s name.  If you are in need of a large portfolio, ask your art teachers, they might have one to give or loan for your Reflections artwork.
